The meniscal micro-structure with two different orientations of the collagen fibers. The circumferential fibers, creating the so called “hoop stress effect”, and the radial ones, keeping the tissue-structure integrity. In case of vertical longitudinal tears scenario the hoop tensile stress effect is preserved and the circumferential fibers are intact. Differently from that, in case of radial lesion the circumferential fibers are disrupts and the hoop stress effect is dissolved
